Hola! I’m Darius.
Born at the very end of the 70s on Curaçao, I moved to The Netherlands at 11.
At 17, I attended the Multimedia Design course at the Grafish Lyceum Rotterdam. Though I didn’t learn much design theory there, I learned how to use several design tools. Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D Studio Max are some of the skills I gained there.
After finishing my Multimedia Design course, I started my career as a web designer, only to end up a developer instead. After creating and implementing several site designs, I starteds working more with scripts, and it seemed I have a knack for it. After a year or so of building ASP websites, I dove into PHP.
Fast-forward 10 years, and after going around saying I could write many of the packages I use or come across, I decided to take the plunge and start entrepeneuring myself.
I started Hectius to offer my web development services, and spend much time mastering most packages out there. One thing I failed to take time for when employed.
This blog is meant to track my exploits, share anything I deem interesting enough, random rants, and hopefully teach something to someone.
I like meeting people and view myself as a decent conversationalist, although I excel at listening.
I can most often be found on Twitter. Go ahead and say hi. I look scary because I am, but most people seem to like me a lot once they get to know me.
This is the personal rantspace blog for Darius Kruythoff. Web developer by day, and slightly more productive web developer by night. Not trying to save the world, but my own perception of it.
